Lafeber Company Testimonials Click here if you have a story or photo

Andrew- an 8 year old Double Yellow Headed Amazon, just loves his Lafeber Nutri-Nuts in the morning.
He says, "I got! I got!" when I get them out.
I have him pick his own color,
then I say "I got red". If that's the color he picks. He does say "red".
I think it's
a good way to teach colors.

Your Avi-Cakes product is so attractive to my cockatiels, it is unbelievable.
I have two grey cockatiels. I feed them very high quality food using seed
products only as a treat. Their reaction is predictable when given Avi-cakes,
they ignore every other food, consume the Avi-cake and become angry when
it is gone. They shake the feeding trays and eventually pull them off the
side of the cage and toss them on the bottom. Then they scold me in a very
demanding fashion. You have a superb, nutritious product. The cockatiels
simply love and crave it!
Just a simple testimonial.

The story of Mojo
Hi there, I just wanted to share my story about your products and the
very noticeable difference they've made in my bird's and therefore my,
life!
I received my cockatiel, Mojo, as a birthday gift in fall '07 after my first pet bird, a parakeet named Disco, died under the care of a sitter while we were on vacation. I had no idea I needed to feed her anything other than seeds until I started working for a large-scale pet retailerthis February--five months later. She was parent-raised so I had to win her trust, and although I'd gotten her to the point where she'dstep up, let me groom her head, and come to the front of the cage when I called her, she still had random moody freak-out screaming sessions, wouldn't ever be interested in treats, and disliked strangers. After talking to the "bird lady" where I work, I started mixing pellets inwith her seeds, because apparently she'd "accidentally eat some pellets while looking for the seeds." This was absolutely not the case. She'dspend hours picking the seeds delicately out of the pellets, happily wasting my money and ruining her health.
About a month ago, I purchased a bird cookbook--best money I've ever spnt. The first half of the book was chapters upon chapters about bird nutrition, and it dawned on me that I needed to get very serious about getting her to eat the pellets (in addition to the seeds, not as a replacement) as well as fresh fruits and veggies. I was able to get her eating scrambled eggs (with the shell crushed inside, of course, along with some seeds and random veggies for a birdie omelet!), as well as carrot tops--man does she love those. But I was still left with this pellet problem
Then, on a whim, I came home from work one day with some
original-flavor Nutriberries. When I opened the container, I
immediately smelled... peanut butter cups? They smelled so good! I
offered Mojo one, but she didn't seem interested. Having done so with
vegetables before, I took a nibble first, and Mojo immediately started
eating as well. I was also shocked by the fact that it tasted good.
Of course the seeds were a little chewy, but here was bird food that
TASTED GOOD TO ME? I also noticed that the Lafeber products are the
only bird food in our store that doesn't say "not intended for human
consumption" on the back. That alone impresses me, I've always found
it weird that we'll feed our animals things we wouldn't touch.
That same week I brought home Sunny Orchard and Tropical Fruit
Nutri-Berries, and I've discovered that although she likes all three,
Mojo's favorite BY FAR is the Tropical Fruit variety. Without any
effort whatsoever, she's completely on a Nutri-Berrie’s diet, and she has
definitely stopped her random screaming fits and is a lot more
affectionate to everybody, even total strangers.
One thing that I didn't notice until I bird-sat another cockatiel, was
that Mojo's feathers, feet, and especially beak/nostrils look AMAZING.
Without a comparison, I had no idea about the improvements that were
taking place, but comparing these two birds side-by-side is stunning.
The guest cockatiel has been eating seeds mixed with generic, fruity
bird pellets (which the owner thinks he's probably not eating, and I
can confirm he's not) and compared to him, Mojo's feathers look like
velvet. The guest bird's feathers look very individual, whereas Mojo's
blend together to look like an even coat. The guest bird's feet and
beak/nostril area appear flaky and dry, while Mojo's look smooth and
flake-free. Also, Mojo's crest is perfectly symmetrical and very full,
while the guest bird's is scraggly and uneven. Although the guest bird
is well taken care of (large cage, many toys, organic seeds) and has
well-meaning owners, it is obvious what a difference Mojo's balanced
diet is having in her appearance, as well as personality.
Another thing too--I had been trying to get the guest bird onto a more
balanced diet like Mojo's, and although he loves eating organic
wheatgrass, that's about as experimental as I can get him to be.
Today, however, I brought some Avi-Cakes home from work--and he's going
nuts as we speak. I didn't even have to crumble them up, he went for
them right away. I hope I see improvements in him in the short I have
him for, but rest assured I'll be singing the praises of your products
to his owners when they return--I know they'll be able to see what I'm
talking about when they look at my beautiful, affectionate bird!!

Dear Lafeber Co.,
I have an eleven year old budgie, Percy, that was diagnosed by a vet
with a tumor a little over a year ago. He recommend surgery and because
of
Percy's age, I got on the Internet and looked for a less invasive way of
dealing
with the illness. The all-seed diet in which he was partaking, seemed to
be a
major issue and previous efforts to switch to pellets had been unsuccessful.
I desperately searched for something that Percy would be willing to eat
and would give him the nutrients he was missing. I found Avi-cakes and upon
reading the package saw they were half pellets. I tried them and low and
behold, Percy ate them! About a month later with the diet change and added
exercise, the tumor was gone and over a year later has not returned!
Thanks for your
part in my bird's recovery.

We have four parrots, including a Senegal, African Grey, Eclectus and Blue and Gold Macaw. Everyone loves Nutri-berries and I often use them to encourage or reward good behaviors. Soon I noticed that our African Grey, Kota, would begin to ask for them by name!
I have attached a little video clip of Kota asking for his favorite treat, which he knows is kept in the little drawer just to the right of his cage.

I adopted Azizi, a 10 year old Senegal parrot. I'm his 6th and last home.
(Azizi, is Swahili for "precious gift.") He's my first parrot. We've been
together for a year. He's sweet, quiet, and the "perfect gentleman." He is
picky about food as my 89 year old retired chef mother! I make a
special sweet potato with veggie mash for his breakfast, and then he gets
seeds for dinner.
I have purchased every top brand of seed on the market! I've even bought
organic human seeds from the health food store. In less than a week, I'm
off to the store for a different brand because he won't eat them any more!
I just can't bring myself to say to him "tough buster, it's all your
getting." After all, he's already had it rough being passed around.
A couple of months ago, I bought a bag of Tropical Fruit Nutri-Berries. I
couldn't believe it, he gobbled them up! I thought they were a great
treat. I would add a few to a couple of tablespoons of "brand seeds."
Azizi always ate the Nutri-Berries first.
I took Azizi to the avian vet yesterday for a "wellness" check-up. I
mostly wanted to ask questions about his picky diet. This vet is well
known in Denver, and sees lots and lots of birds. He commented twice about
Azizi's beautiful feathers and great health. I told him about his fussy
eating, and asked him to recommend some food.
He immediately named the Lafeber company! I told him how much Azizi likes
the "Nutri-Berries" treat. The vet immediately corrected me and said they
are "THE REAL DEAL, NOT A TREAT." "For the seed part of his diet, the
"Nutri-Berries" are COMPLETE with all the vitamins and nutrients Azizi
needs." He said I could "feel comfortable" in feeding Azizi any of the
Lafeber products, even the "snacks". The vet does NOT sell your products
by the way.
My brother has a Quaker who eats everything, but he worries about the
vitamins in the bird's diet. I immediately called him and told him what
the avian vet said about your products. He said he was going out
immediately and buy some.
Thank you for making a great tasting healthy product that is also easy for
me to store and serve! It's fun to watch Azizi eat these little balls of
nutrition. Next, we'll try the Avi-Cakes!

Casper, my tiel, absolutely loves Avi-Cakes. As soon
as she sees the red bag, she gets all excited and
nearly falls off of whatever she is standing on. She
puts her wings up and her head starts to sway back and
forth.
When I fill her bowl, all I can see it a white tail
sticking out for about 1/2 hour. She sticks her head
up once in awhile to see where we are, but then she
goes back in for more. I tell my husband that she is
"coming up for air!!!!"
Thank you so much for the wonderful Lafeber Products.
We don't buy anything else in our house!

My name is Christy Christian. I have A Quaker Parrot, Her name is Keywee. We live in South Houston Texas and she is a fan of a store here. She loves to go there because they have samples of Lafeber treats and we go there to buy her food. I have had her since she was a week old she was raised on Lafeber from the day I got her. And she is still eating Lafeber pellets and she gets the Nutri-Berrie treats. We just wanted to write and say thank you for giving us something healthy and that she loves.
Thank you

I
have had birds for most of my life and had never heard of Lafeber's
until this last year. I like many others thought the basic "seed" diet
was enough until I was lucky enough one day to meet the love of my
life... Cleo. When I met her at the pet store I just absolutely fell
in love with her. She was not yet weaned so it was a couple of weeks
before I could take her home; during that time I researched and read
everything there is to know about Quakers. I learned through a coworker
about Lafeber's; she and her husband not only swear by it but also
have a great deal of trust and belief in the quality and nutrition
Lafeber's provides. I began with the pellets but had a difficult
time incorporating them into her diet. I then decided to try your
Avi-Cakes. Boy oh boy did she love them! From there I introduced
her to the different flavors of nutri-berries and she loves every
single one! We continue to feed Cleo Avi-Cakes as treats throughout
the day and whenever she hears the word "cake" she'll begin
to dance and squawk all over the place! She'll dance in circles and
stretch out to snatch the piece right out of your hand. I've never
seen her act so wound up about anything else thus far! Not only does
Cleo love all of Lafeber's products but both my family and I noticed
a considerable difference in the sheen and coloring of her feathers
and beak. Not only did her beak appear healthier but her feathers
came alive with color! A beautiful sheen developed and she's never
been a happier bird! Thank you for providing bird owners with such
wonderful products! As a bird owner I feel neglected by animal food
retailers and vendors and I'm so happy you as a company have stepped
up to the plate to help bring knowledge to bird owners all over the
world!!!
PS Cleo's currently appearing in the 2005/2006 Birds USA edition
on pg 1... thanks to Lafeber!

My
little cockatiel, Bongo, just adores Avi-Cakes...as
soon as she sees the package, she climbs onto her special "treat
perch" and waits for her favorite goodies. In fact, when I remove
her treat bowl for cleaning, she defends it with her life, nipping
at my fingers to no end. She never does this for her regular food
bowls, so I know her Avi-cakes are dear to her little birdie heart.

Smokey,
our African grey pulled out all his chest feathers. Everytime some grew
in he pulled them out. We thought that this was a result of us
renovating our kitchen, which he thought he owned. He got very skittish
and would freak out at any unexpected noise. This went on for more than
a year.
One day he fell onto our ceramic tile floor and broke the tip off from
his beak. His "Dad" rushed him to the vets. Later the vet recommended
Lafebers Avi-Cakes, because he thought that Smokey's diet was lacking.
I put him on it right away. Since then, all his feathers have grown back,
he talks all the time. We also give him and our other four birds Nutri-Berries as a treat. We don't tell them that they are good for them.

Dear Dr. Lafeber,
I
have got to say I have been very pleased with the Nutri-Berries products
for my birds. At the time my mother introduced me to this food she still
thought I had only one bird. She had heard how well my sisters umbrella
cockatoo enjoyed it and she thought my 9 year old yellow-naped macaw (Mutt)
I have had for about a year would benefit from them as well. She did not
know I had very recently adopted Caroline. A pinioned, neglected 30 year
old Congo African grey whose feathers are just starting to come back in
from being self-mutilated. This picture was her first day home.
Both birds were on an off-brand parrot food which for the most part lay
all over the bottom of the cage along with the sunflower seed husks. I
fed them the fruit and vegetable and some table scraps along with it, but
new this was not a very healthy diet, so needless to say, when I read the
accompanying literature I became very excited that they may now be getting
the nutrients they need and deserve.
The first 10 oz. bag of Nutri-Berries my mother brought over did not go
over to well with Mutt to begin with, but now he dances on his perch and
makes happy sounds in anticipation when I go to the bucket every morning.
Caroline loved it instantly and will not eat any other seed now. Mutt will
in a pinch, but it is obvious that he prefers the Nutri-Berries.
Of the three flavors of Nutri-Berries they have tried (Original, Tropical
Fruit and El Paso), they seem to like the El Paso best. But they are all
eaten with enthusiasm.
Thank you for the research you have done to better our feathered companions
health and well-being. I am hoping your book will enable me to understand
what causes certain behaviors and how better to deal with some of them...good
and bad. At least I don't have my sisters problem of breaking them of a
bad coffee habit...;)

Dear Dr. Lafeber,
You
have no idea how thrilled I am to have discovered your products. I was
in a local pet store and found a small (12 oz.)
bucket of Nutri-Berries.
I didn't really read the lable very closely and thought they were bird
treats, so I bought them for Koko, my 10 year old Umbrella Cockatoo.
He ate the first one with such enthusiasm that I figured I had better
make sure how many I should limit him to at one time. Once I realised it
was a very healthy alternative to his seed and fruit diet he had eaten
all his life I was just speachless!
I have had Koko since he was a weanling. He has eaten that messy parrot
mix his whole life and has always thrown the stuff he didn't like out of
his cage.
I knew he was not getting enough of the good stuff but didn't know how
to convince him to eat everything on his "plate".
After consuming one 12 oz. container of your food he refuses to eat the
seed mix at all and becomes very angry when we try to feed him anything
else. It was an immediate change for the better; no break-in period at
all. I can tell already that he is looking and feeling better just from
one month of using your product.
Thank you for caring enough about birds to help owners like me take the
best care possible of our feathered children. I have also ordered your
book so that I may better educate myself on other ways to improve his life.
I am still having problems getting him to take a bath, but I am sure your
book will help with that, also. Now if I can just get him to give up
his coffee habit...
Your new life-long customer,
Michelle Griffin
We have had our Nelly, (our peach fronted conure) home for two months.
We got him at a local pet store in Virginia Beach. He is going to be 2
in January. The store had 4 or 5 of these conures around the same age when
we got Nelly.
He was very anti-social until we saw the Lafeber ad for the Nutri-berries Popcorn in the latest issue of Bird Talk Magazine. He LOVES them and
can’t
get enough. We worry he is going to explode!!! He is an adorable picture
of him stuffing his face with your product. We have been having problems
getting him to play with toys, but not as much now, that he loves his popcorn!
Thanks,
Kyle and Jennifer in Virginia Beach

Dear Kristy,
I was delighted at the prospect of seeing Clio on your website.
Clio is a fifteen month old Double Yellow Head Amazon.
Her diet includes a variety of fresh vegetables, fruits, some nuts and
seeds.
One of her favorite treats is Nutri-Berries. When they are included
with a mixture of other foods they are always her first choice to
be eaten.
As you can see in her photo she enjoys the Nutri-Berries literature
almost as much as the Nutri-Berries themselves. As with any informed
consumer,
Clio wanted to be certain that only natural ingredients were in her
Nutri-Berries.
Thanks for helping to keep Clio happy and healthy.

Recently
I started buying Nutri-berries to add to Rascal's dry mix each day. Within
a couple of days he was enthusiastically eating them. Or I should
say, he was enthusiastically eating one of the two I put in his bowl. The
other one was being used for a more interesting pass time. Rascal discovered
early on that it was a lot of fun to use Nutri-Berries for target practice
on the dog. Without him seeing me, I have been watching to see exactly
what he does.
First he sees if the dog is in the room, if so he waits patiently with
a Nutri-berrie in his claw until the dog comes around his cage looking
for food scraps. Then as soon as the dog goes under him as he sits
on his little fold out door, he lines up, and KAPOW...hits the dog right
square on the top of the head. (Rascal's aim is quite good!) Then
as the dog beats a hasty retreat Rascal bobs and clucks contentedly to
himself. It's really a lot of fun to watch the little character!
By the way, my two older kids have tasted Nutri-Berries and think they
would make great people snacks!
Thanks,
Gail Jones
Dear Lafeber,
Our lovebird, Gypsy just loves Nutri-Berries. When I get the bucket
out, he immediately jumps from my shoulder to the container. He perches
right on the side, and digs in !!
Dear Lafeber,
I want to say that I have a 3 yr. old African Grey who has been raised
on your fantastic products since before he had his first feather. His/Her
name is 'Love' and he/she has never had any sort of health problem whatsoever. He
loves every variety of your Nutri-Berries and
I want to thank you for keeping my buddy happy and healthy. I am
virtually paralyzed from the neck down and 'Love's' companionship is very
important to me. I will continue to always feed him your wonderfully
nutritious Nutri-Berries. Thank
you so much for the happy times that you help make possible. A devoted
fan in FL...

Dear. Lafeber,
I recently acquired a blue front Amazon. He was a rescue, and had been
treated horribly. Kept in a dark basement with no toys, fed only wild bird
sunflower seeds. His cage
had not been cleaned in years. And if you walked near his cage, he growled.
I gave myself 1 year to be able to handle him, never have owning a parrot
before. With lots of love, time, and your treats, within a month he was
stepping onto me and letting me pet his head. I had really wanted to get
him completely off seed, so the "Pet Supplies Plus" I work at
ordered me in your pellet diet. He absolutely loves it, and doesn't even
miss the seeds!! He loved it so much, my boss decided to stock it, and
I'm telling people about it, and people are trying it. It's so much better
for him, and I know what he's getting in every bite, and so much less mess!!
Thank you so much for making such wonderful products!!!! He is 14 yrs old,
we've had him for about 2 months now, and he is so spoiled, but such a
happy bird.
Thank you again,
Lori & Merlin
Dear Lafeber,
I am writing and sending you this e-mail to thank you for the wonderful
products your company manufactures. I have had 'Rosie', a Congo African
Grey, for almost two years now and she has thoroughly enjoyed every Lafeber
product I have provided her. So often in these days of marketing
hype and gimmicks, consumers often find themselves purchasing and using
items, including bird products, that do not live up to expectations and/or
miserably fail altogether in providing what has been promised.
However, I can honestly say that all of your products I have tried to
date (from Avi-cakes to Nutri-Berries to Nutri-Nuts and
that wonderful product, Jungle
Joy) have more than lived up to expectations regarding how they are
described and what they are marketed to provide concerning both nutrition
and stimulation for my bird. This is both rare and uncommon and I
believe thousands of pet birds worldwide are better off today due to the
excellent products Lafeber manufactures.
So for all of this, Rosie and I thank you!

Dear Dr. Lafeber and Co.,
I wanted write you and tell you what a good product you have
in Nutri-Berries.
I have a 20 year old companion cockatiel named Oliver. Oliver
is a very picky eater and would accept nothing but seed. Amazingly enough
he has never had a sick minute in his life on such a diet. I have tried
several times to improve his diet however with no luck. I always seam to
cave in before he does and I'd rather have him eat something rather than
nothing. In the past I had tried several improved diets, including your
own pellets with no luck.
Not even mixing with seed would get him to take what at least I knew was
better for him.
Recently I brought a new bird into the house, a sun conure
named Biscuit. Biscuit is an excellent eater. He takes anything I give
him, however I keep his diet to fresh foods and Lafeber pellets.
I had seen your Nutri-Berries in
the store many times but had never even picked them up, assuming they were
treats and they just looked too big for Oliver. Well for Biscuit I did
get some intending them as what I hoped to be a healthy treat. Biscuit
takes them as just that and he loves them.
After reading the label on the Nutri-Berries however
I understood that they also served as a vitamin enriched diet, not just
a treat. I figured it was worth a shot with Oliver and started him on a
diet that included the Nutri-berries. He loved them right off. Not even
a partial day of refusing to eat. Today after just a little over a week
of a diet consisting of about 50% Nutri-Berries,
my 20 year old cockatiel who wasn't showing any signs of poor health, is
noticeably more active and talkative. I was amazed to see not only how
quickly he would take to them but how much difference they would make in
his amount of energy and life.
Oliver and I both thank you for your excellent product.
Attached is a picture of Biscuit since I don't have any good
pictures of Oliver.
Thanks!

Dear Dr. Lafeber,
This
is a letter I've been meaning to write for many years. I remember back
in 1992 when I brought my then 3 birds (2 cockatiels and 1 canary) into
the avian vet for a check-up. Dr. Haus took a look at the food I was giving
them (a seed mixture), and said "what are you trying to do, kill your birds"?
She gave me a sample of pellets and Nutri-Berries.
Needless to say I'm feeding them your products (veggies and table scraps
as well) exclusively. At Albany Aquarium where I buy my supplies, Michael
Miller proprietor, will tell you I always say "if it doesn't say Lafeber
on it throw it out".
That was almost 10 years ago and I now have a total of 8
cockatiels, 3 canaries, and a goffin cockatoo.
My recipe for good avian care is a bright clean room, a good
vacuum cleaner (although another benefit of your diet is, virtually no
waste-all is eaten), lots of love and a proper Lafeber diet.
My birds and I are writing this letter to thank you for 10
years of good health. Keep on doing what your doing.
He also loves his veggies. Here is a recent photo of him
holding a fat sweet pea.
Regards,
Helen & Nicodemus the Senegal

Dear Sir,
Your donation of Nutri-Berries for
our cockatiels arrived this morning. I want to thank you for your ongoing
support of our lifestyle here at our nursing home.
It is through the efforts of companies like yours that we
are able to offer our residents a "home" as opposed to the medical
atmosphere so prevalent in many short/long term care facilities.
Attached is a snapshot of one of our residents enjoying a
visit with "Lovey"---- who just loves Nutri-Berries!!
I look forward to our next "surprise" package.

I just wanted to send a thank you note for your products.
We have an African Grey (Chloe) that is such a picky eater. Since I've
been giving her all the flavors of Nutri-Berries, Avi-cake and Nuts
'n' Nuggets I have no problem with her eating. I have ordered the Premium
Daily Diet also and I'm hoping she will like that too. She loves all
your products so far and I see you have Popcorn
Nutri-Berries. I'll try that on her when I order again.

Dear
Lafeber,
I just wanted to take the opportunity to thank you for your
wonderful products. My conure never eats anything but your products.
He has been on seed and table food for years and it has made me insane.
I have tried everything from very expensive to the cheapest type of bird
food, trying to find something he will eat that would fall even modestly
into the category of being good for him. I had ordered some in passing
for my cockatiel and received it the day after he died at the vet. I was
heart broken but just on a whim decided to give some to my conure. HE LOVED
IT! HE STILL LOVES IT! He will eat all of it; the Nutri-Berries;
the veggies; fruit and his favorite are the Avi-cake.
He doesn't make a huge mess either since he can hold it in his feet. THANK
YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU. And I appreciate the affordability of the product.
Please don't go out of business or Reggie will starve.
I would just like to express my thanks for the samples
and literature that you've sent me. It was very informative, and
you just obtained another customer for life. Once again, thank you.

Dear Lafeber Co,
I
have been doing business with you since 1995 and I just want to say that
your product is the best on the market.
My birds, a pair of B/G Macaws, a pair
of African Greys and my Moluccan Cockatoo, thrive on your Nutri-Berries.
Your customer service is beyond belief
on the positive side. I remember back sometime when your customer support
went above and beyond in order to keep my birds and I happy and healthy.
Thank you for being there.
