Product Description

Happy Birthday to the food that started it all! In the early 1970s, Dr. Lafeber began experimenting with a pelleted food for birds. Initially, he made the pellets on a small mill in the rear of his animal hospital. Fifty years later, we’re proud to say that we offer a full line of Premium Daily Pellets and so much more for our feathered friends. Learn more about how we got started 50 years ago and how you can take part in the celebration!

A finch’s wild diet consists of seeds, so people mistakenly believe that seed is all finches need. What is not taken into account is that wild finches spend their day busily foraging for other foods, such as native fruits, flowers, and other plant matter, as well as insects and worms — all of which supplement their diet with vitamins, minerals, and proteins. Seed is just one part of the equation. For pet finches, even seed mixes that are coated with vitamins and minerals fall short on complete nutrition because once the bird cracks and hulls the seed these benefits are lost. Fortunately, Lafeber’s Premium Daily Pellets for Finches take the guesswork out of offering your bird complete nutrition.

Our granule-sized pellets are a perfect fit for your finch and can be offered as a full meal or as an important part of your finch’s diet. Many finch owners have found that their birds love a combination of high-quality seed in addition to their pellets, as well as millet spray and a variety of fresh fruits and vegetables.

Lafeber’s Premium Daily Pellets are a high-quality blend of natural ingredients like ground non-GMO corn and soybean meal. Our grains are literally grown outside Lafeber Company’s front door. We also include whole egg, one of the most digestible forms of protein, and essential vitamins, minerals, and amino acids are added to the mixed grains. Lafeber’s Premium Daily Pellets are Omega 3 & 6 fatty acid balanced to give your bird a stronger immune system, stronger bones, and healthier feathers. We also naturally flavor and naturally preserve our foods, and each batch of pellets is scientifically tested for quality at an independent laboratory so you can feel good about feeding Lafeber foods to your feathered companion.

Last year I started introducing Lafeber’s finch pellets as a choice from seed to my fledglings lady gouldians finches, This year I set up six pairs and weaned 47 babies without fostering. I can honestly say it’s a great product my birds love it.

This food is exactly what my sick little bird needed ,she was twirling or spinning started 6 months ago thought I was going to loose her she had pastey butt well after much research I ordered this food and a full recovery to date ,a must have food . Very happy and healthy little girl . I rescued her from outside on a storming night had no idea what I was doing and feeding her seed almost killed her . Happy customer.

5 finches, varied breeds – both Australian and African. I offer 3-4 different pelleted feeds along with quality mixed seed, fresh and dried greens, insects and eggshells. This is definitely their favorite and the first to be eaten up!

This is very helpful site. I will be getting two owl finches and this bird feed is what I will be buying.

After reading about this, I tried it on my finches. They LOVED it and took to it instantly. Less mess and I know they are getting a balanced diet. Thanks, for this and I have shared some of the food with friends of mine.

I read many reviews in many different locations online & this food seemed like a ‘no brainer’, as they say. I have 11 zebra finches (who knew my first two would multiply like bunnies!?!) and I want the best for them. They make a HUGE mess with a seed based diet. Now on the granules, they make waaaay less mess & the 5lb container has lasted for 2months already! They are happy, healthy & way less messy:) I highly recommend.

I have been looking for the best food for my finches. I love them so much that I want to give them the best in the world. Lafeber’s Premium Daily Diet for Finches is the only product in the market that meets my high standard. Unlike those colorful artificial finch food we often see in the market, Lafeber is completely natural. My finches love this product and they are visibly healthy and happy. Thank you Lafeber for the company’s dedication and consciousness in producing quality food for pet birds. My only advice for the company is to increase marketing efforts and to make its products more available to pet stores at all scales. For instance I live in NYC and I could only find Lafeber in PetSmart and a private bird boarding store called BirdCamp. I could never find this product (Finch premium) in PetCo or PetLand. Lafeber is a good product and more bird owners should know about it.
