    Welcome to LafeberVet’s Avian Nutrition Basics slideshow, part of a teaching module on avian nutrition. This 1-hour, RACE-approved webinar recording is designed to impart a basic understanding of avian nutrition for the veterinary health professional as well as students in these fields.   • Objectives

    This lecture will provide an overview on the basic principles of avian nutrition. Topics covered will include: nutritional strategies and related functional gastrointestinal anatomy. The use of a poultry model for pet bird diets will also be discussed before moving onto a review of nutrients (water, energy, protein, carbohydrates, fat, vitamins, and minerals), physiologic states (growth, maintenance, reproduction), as well as specific feedstuffs (seeds commonly fed to birds, nectar, etc.).
