Dr. Lauren Powers is service chief of the Avian and Exotic Pet Service at Carolina Veterinary Specialists in the greater Charlotte, North Carolina area. Dr. Powers graduated from Tufts University School of Veterinary Medicine and completed a residency in avian medicine and surgery at North Carolina State University (NCSU-CVM). She is adjunct assistant professor in the Department of Clinical Sciences at NCSU-CVM. She is board-certified in both avian medicine (ABVP-Avian Practice) and exotic companion mammal medicine (ABVP-Exotic Companion Mammal Practice). She was the 2011 and 2012 recipient of the Association of Avian Medicine (AAV) President’s Award for Outstanding Service and the 2008 recipient of the Association of Exotic Mammal Veterinarians (AEMV) President’s Award. She currently serves as co-chairperson of the AAV Education Committee.
