El Dr. Maas asisti\u00f3 a la Universidad de Seattle Pacific para su grado universitario y a la Escuela de Medicina Veterinaria de la Universidad de Washington y la Universidad de Wisconsin para su trabajo de Posgrado y Doctorado. Desde ese entonces, ha trabajado y ha recibido entrenamiento avanzado en una serie de centros de especialidades, zool\u00f3gicos y centros de fauna silvestre de todo el continente. \u00c9l ha proporcionado consultas para un n\u00famero de parques zool\u00f3gicos y colecciones p\u00fablicas.
