Dr. Morishita attended the University of California at Davis (UCD) and received a dual Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine and Master of Preventive Veterinary Medicine degree. Wanting to gain additional skills in clinical avian medicine, she completed a residency in avian\/poultry medicine from UCD and became a Diplomate of the <a href=\"https:\/\/aaap.memberclicks.net\/acpv-home\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">American College of Poultry Veterinarians<\/a>. She also earned her PhD in comparative pathology from UCD. She writes a monthly poultry health column \u201cFowl Talk\u201d in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.poultrypress.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Poultry Press<\/a> and she was the Veterinary Advisor for the <a href=\"https:\/\/unitedpeafowlassociation.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">United Peafowl Association<\/a>. Since 2009, Dr. Morishita has also served as the Veterinary Advisor for the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aza.org\/taxon-advisory-groups\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Galliformes Taxon Advisory Group<\/a> of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums.
