Il est bien établi que posséder un animal de compagnie procure des bénéfices physiques et psychologiques (Friedman 2009). Cependant, le contact avec les animaux n’est pas sans risque et la transmission de maladies zoonotiques est possible. Les lapins ne transmettent pas de maladie sévère à l’homme (Mitchell 2005), mais ils peuvent être porteurs de certains pathogènes potentiels, dont Encephalitozoon cuniculi . . .
