VETERINARIAN RECOMMENDED

From Renowned Avian Veterinarian Dr. Scott Echols

There’s a couple reasons that I prefer the Lafeber products, and one is that the company has been around for over 50 years and actually was started by a veterinarian, Dr. Ted Lafeber Sr., and the current veterinarian — his son, Dr. Ted Lafeber Jr. — is now running the products and the company. So we still have continuity, and they have a long-standing, great reputation with products. Another is that they use human-grade ingredients. In fact, they grow a lot of their ingredients. And that’s important to me, because I am looking for product quality.

Description

Product Description

Parrots have incredible beak abilities; just look at the way your macaw or cockatoo can take a chunk out of your finest furniture and, moments later, take the hull off of a tiny seed. A parrot’s curiosity is often driven by the quest for different tastes and textures, so why not give your bird something he can really sink his beak into?

Avi-Cakes is a blend of 50-percent premium seeds and 50-percent nutritionally balanced pellets made with non-GMO ingredients and held together with a great-tasting molasses binder. Its square shape is designed as the perfect “work-and-chew-food” for your macaw or cockatoo to hold, pull, twist, and crunch to bring out his foraging instincts.

Your parrot might pick and choose his way through a loose seed mix, but he’ll tear into Avi-Cakes and consume better nutrition along the way. Avi-Cake nutrition matches that of most pelleted diets and can be fed as a main meal. It is also an ideal “bridge” food to wean your parrot off of seeds and onto pellets, as many parrots start to eat pellets after eating Avi-Cakes.

Avi-Cakes is Omega 3 & 6 balanced to promote a healthy immune system and improve skin and feather quality, as well as naturally preserved and flavored. All the seeds and grains in Avi-Cakes are hand-inspected for cleanliness and freshness. Our equipment has been specially designed for just making bird food. We make small batches of food to ensure the best quality possible. Each batch is laboratory tested. Finally, each Avi-Cake is hand-packed. It takes a lot of work to make a great product, but we believe the results are worth it!

My birds love Avicakes!
It can be difficult to find a healthy treat that all three of my birds enjoy (Congo African Grey, Timneh African Grey, and green-cheeked conure). Avicakes is that treat that all of them love which makes my life easier. It always arrives fresh and is a great addition to their diet, keeping them healthy and satisfied.

Avi-Cakes and nutriberries
I use avicakes and nutriberries daily for my grey and cockatoo. They like their time out of the cage. But when I say “who wants an avicake?”, they both head for their perches.

These Avi-cakes are a staple in my household with my three birds. They’ve loved them for years, and they all get very clean bills of health from our vet every visit! Definitely a valuable part of their diet.

My Parrots are the pickiest eaters. But since I have introduced them to Avi-Cakes they look forward to meal rime.

Our 26 year old goffin cockatoo is a fussy eater when it comes to seedcake like food. All other products are too dry for her tastebuds. We have tried them all and Avi cake is it. She likes her fortified seed mix and loves fresh fruits, veggies, pasta, rice, …. Given her range of fresh food it surprises us that she refuses all but Avi cake seed cakes. No nutra berries or anything like them. Icarus asks you to continue making your excellent food.

My African gray likes the macaw ones because he can forge through them easier than the ones that are for smaller parrots. He still doesn't eat the pellets unfortunately, but he has a lot of fun digging for the safflower seeds. It gets kind of pricey because he doesn't eat most of them. We have a park that we bring all the parts that he doesn't eat and feed the squirrels there.

I knew about you from the almost 40 years I spent in Illinois and had DR. Sakas as an avian vet. The food is great and the Macaws I've had for almost 30 years have loved the Avi-cakes and gobble them down when I give them.
