Product Description

Happy Birthday to the food that started it all! In the early 1970s, Dr. Lafeber began experimenting with a pelleted food for birds. Initially, he made the pellets on a small mill in the rear of his animal hospital. Fifty years later, we’re proud to say that we offer a full line of Premium Daily Pellets and so much more for our feathered friends. Learn more about how we got started 50 years ago and how you can take part in the celebration!

When you pour a parrot seed mix into your macaw or cockatoo’s bowl, you might notice that he picks out his favorites, often peanuts or sunflower seeds — not the healthiest choices. While seed is fine as a snack, your macaw or cockatoo’s main meal needs to pack more of a nutritional punch. We created Lafeber’s Premium Daily Pellets to ensure your parrot gets all the nutrients he needs for a full, energetic, and healthy life, with a taste he’ll find too good to pass up.

Our pellets are flavored with molasses, which enhances taste naturally and improves the acceptance of pellets when finicky “seed junkies” are converted to a healthy diet. They are perfectly sized for your large parrot to crumble up and can be offered as a full meal or as an important part of your bird’s diet. Many parrot owners have found that their birds love a combination of foods along with their pellets, such as Nutri-Berries, Avi-Cakes, and various fruits and vegetables.

Each pellet is a high-quality blend of natural ingredients like ground non-GMO corn and soybean meal. Our grains are literally grown outside Lafeber Company’s front door. We also include whole egg, one of the most digestible forms of protein, and essential vitamins, minerals, and amino acids are added to the mixed grains. Lafeber’s Premium Daily Pellets are Omega 3 & 6 fatty acid balanced to give your bird a stronger immune system, stronger bones, and healthier feathers. We also naturally flavor and naturally preserve our foods, and each batch of pellets is scientifically tested for quality at an independent laboratory so you can feel good about feeding Lafeber foods to your feathered companion.

My Gold and Blue Macaw came from an all-seed diet before I got him. Not good seeds either, Wal-Mart brand seeds for birds. He was even given Oreo's as a treat. He LOVES this brand. He made the adjustment fairly quickly and loves the little treats like the berries. I have yet to try more of the treats from this brand, but as a Macaw mom, I highly recommend this brand! My avian vet also recommends it and she has parrots of her own. I have to order online a lot since it's not found near me but totally worth it. A 25lb box of pellets will last about two months or more, depending on his level of chop he actually eats and doesn't throw to the floor!

This is the best food I have ever feed my macaws both my birds are resque birds my green wing was given can vegetables and they were let in his cage rotting and stinking he had to rake them out of his dish with his beek. He would not eat the food I had because its fruit flavored he would just throw it out so I tried this food and both my macaws love it they do not drop any of it there feather look better and I think they even feel better on this food. It is the best I have found I can put 25 pounds of my other food in a pale and its 3/4 full 25 pounds of this feed will not go in my pale there is a lot move food in this 25 pounds. You can’t go wrong with this ever if your birds are on a seed diet they will stop eating seed for this food it great what more could be said its worth every penny
