My Quakers death

My Quaker- Caesar passed on December 26th. He was 29 -I was always careful on feeding quality food-( no nuts, salty foods, chocolate, parsley etc)—he had fresh water, homemade Birdy Bread. Woke up that morning she gave him his unsalted green beans that he loved. Wouldn’t eat them or drink water. He was hunched down and open mouthed breathing so didn’t make it too long. He ate a good dinner the night before. Any ideas on what could’ve happened? I’m heartbroken as I loved him so much

Answer:

Hi,

I am so sorry for your loss. Most likely this was due to age – 29 is pretty old for a Quaker. It sounds like you gave Caesar great care and the comforting thing is that he didn’t suffer. He probably suffered from some type of organ failure due to his advanced age. It’s hard when they die suddenly, but age related failure can be hard or impossible to detect in advance, and usually there isn’t a lot that can be done. It sounds like you had a close bond with Caesar so I’m sure you would have noticed if he had been ill in advance. I’m glad you were able to say goodbye to him. Please take comfort knowing you did everything you could to give him the best life.

Take care,

Brenda
