death of male lovebird

I had 2 male lovebirds for 4 years and one just dropped dead this morning…they were very compatible and of course I am wondering what to do…thank you!

Answer:

Hi,

I’m very sorry for your loss. The other bird will grieve so you can try to keep him busy with treats and some new toys. If you are considering another bird for him, it would have to be around the same age – he would bully and possibly kill a baby. And they would have to be in cages side by side to get used to each other. There is also no guarantee they will get along. Lovebirds can be very aggressive towards each other and it can be hard to introduce two adults.

Take care,

Brenda
