What is the best way to introduce mature male with mature female in big out side cage
Hi,
Any introduction should be gradual. Start by having them in cages, side by side. If they are interested in each other, they will start to sit near each other and interact by vocalizing and even reaching through the cage bars. Until they get to this point, you should not cage them together. If they do seem interested in each other, you can try putting them in the same cage, under close supervision. You should have 2 food & water stations. Watch for signs of chasing each other or aggression. Not all birds will get along. They choose their own mate in the wild, and often do not like the one we choose for them. Signs of bonding would be sitting together, feeding and preening each other and finally mating. You should not give them a nesting box until you have observed all of these behaviors. They should also be about 7 years or older before putting them in the same cage.
Thank you for asking Lafeber,
