Airborne Toxicity

Is there a possibility that airbone irritants / fumes kill only 1 bird in the flock and the rest are fine? Recently one of my pet bird passed on with first sign of seizure and thereafter lack of appetite and would not even take in formula.. succumbed within three days but my other birds are fine. They are all the same species.

Answer:

Hi,

An airborne toxin would kill all of the birds instantly, or within hours at the very most. What you describe is a disease process. It could have been a bacterial infection, a virus, or maybe something genetic. A bird should always be taken to an avian vet at the first signs of illness. If any of the remaining birds show any symptoms, please take them to the Vet.
