Breeding

I have a male cockatiel witch is 1 year old and iv resantly got another at 18 weeks old as I was told it was a male but iv noticed my male trying to hump the other so I’m not sure what 2 do

Answer:

Hi Keyleigh,

The birds need to be in separate cages. The older bird is getting mature and wanting to mate and he will end up attacking and injuring the younger bird because it is too young. It still may be a male. The older bird is hormonal  but still too immature to mate, so he is acting on hormones. Also if these are pets and you cage them together, they will eventually get wild and not want to be handled.
