Broken Bird Leg

My quaker parrot broke his leg. He was seen by the vet the same day and splinted with a collar. He was okay on night one but obsessed with chewing on his splint. Night two seemed good when I went to sleep and woke up, and he had passed. Was this from stress? He had a horrible wing clip from the pet store and could not glide down.

Answer:

Hi Amber,

I am really sorry to hear about your quaker. The Vet could do a necropsy to try to give you some answers. Landing hard enough to break a leg could have also caused other injuries. He may have had an internal injury that didn’t show up right away. It’s not likely that stress alone would have caused him to die, but it’s possible.. Again I’m sorry this happened.

Take care,

Brenda
