swift bird

Hi

about molting my bird .she is molting and feathers of body head and …. are renew but i have question about tails and primaries .i feed her with cricket and mealworm and i have her for 9 months

Answer:

Hi,

Can you send me a photo of the bird so I can be sure I understand what you have? Email to [email protected]

Again, this may be diet related. If this bird mainly eats insects in the wild, it is hard to provide what they need. Feeding a couple of types of insects isn’t enough. When a bird molts, it should not be very obvious, other than the bird might look a bit rough, and you see a lot of feathers on the cage floor. When it comes to losing longer feathers, they only lose one or two at a time, or they would be vulnerable to predators, and not be able to fly properly to catch food.

Thank you for the update,

Brenda
