What did I do wrong

So I got my birds about 3 weeks ago and they were already starting to trust me and get on my hand but then I had to scrub their cage. once I got them back in they were not the same. I feel they were not allowed to fly in their old home cuz they continuously ran into stuff and didn’t properly know how to land. but now they go to the corner of the cage whenever I stand and will not take treats out of my hand. what do I do?

Answer:

Hi Shelby,

With any new bird, they need time to get used to a new home. It depends on the birds – some need longer than others. When you have 2 birds sharing a cage, they are not as likely to be tame with humans. They prefer to be with each other. You can talk to them a lot and move slowly around them. They will probably trust you more as time goes by, but they are not very likely to become tame with you.

Thank you for asking Lafeber,

Brenda
