Weird IRN Behaviour

My indian ringneck often times will go on top of her cage, arch her back so she’s facing up, stretch her wings a little bit, or she will open her beak at me whenever i look at her, I don’t know what this means, is this a sign for concern?

Answer:

Hi,

This sounds like it might be hormonal behavior. When you handle her, it is best not to pet her below the nest – stick to her head. And don’t let her roam around the house, get into any cozy places, or have any boxes, bird tents, nests or anything she can sit inside of. You want to discourage hormonal behavior or it can lead to egg laying. We are presenting hormone topics with our webinars this month, and we have an entire list of hormone related webinars because they are a main cause of many behavior and health issues.

Thank you for asking Lafeber,

Brenda
