Is it ok for two females to breed

My two lovebirds which i paired because i was told one was male and the second was a female but recently i saw a bump on both what should i do

Answer:

Hi,

I don’t know what you mean by a bump, but this isn’t something normal. There are no visible signs of gender on lovebirds, and no visible changes if they are going to lay an egg. If your birds have any swelling or bumps or lumps that were not there before, you need to take them to an avian vet to be checked out. As for 2 females together, yes, they can be together. But from what it sounds like, you have no indication of whether you have males, females or one of each. Unless one or both lay eggs, then you can’t know unless you have a blood test done. And of course if both lay eggs, the eggs will not be fertile. Birds do not have to mate to lay eggs, and they do not need a male to lay eggs, but they do need to mate with a male to lay fertile eggs.
