My pet bird is acting different towards me

My bird has lately been almost scared of me,he doesn’t let me carry him on my hand like he usually does and gets so scared he even jumps on my hand onto the floor,he starts to scream and gets impatient when i hold him and lifts his wings up and tries to fly.I’m supper worried about him I’m not sure what’s wrong he’s normal with everyone else but me.i don’t have the money to get him a check up but I’m trying to gain his trust but I’m not sure how to where to start.I’m not sure if he’s scared of me or there soemthing else i should be worried about.can anyone help?

Answer:

Hi,

You didn’t mention what species of bird you have, and that can make a big difference. But since he is only acting this way with you, then you need to think about anything that you have changed, or anything that may have happened while you were handling him, to make him stop trusting you. Did you get another pet, were you too busy and not handling him as much, did you scold him for something, did you change something in the environment – things like this can have an effect on a bird. I’ll give you the links to our behavior & training pages to help you better understand his behavior and how to work with him. This is the type thing that might require the help of a behavior consultant.
