Love birds

I have male and female they are in the box a lot together is this normal please

Answer:

Hi,

This is a very good sign that she may lay eggs soon, if she hasn’t already. Both parents will help incubate the eggs and feed the chicks. You need to be feeding them a nutritionally balanced diet like pellets or our foraging diets. A loose seed mix will not provide the nutrition the parents & chicks need. Also offer leafy greens, chopped veggies and some fruit. And while they are breeding, they need a daily egg food – either a commercial dry egg food or you can cook an egg with the shell washed, crushed and cooked with the egg. Even if they haven’t eaten fresh foods in the past, breeding birds will usually eat these foods, and they will eat a lot more than before, especially if they have chicks to feed. If they do raise chicks, as soon as the chicks leave the nest box, remove the box and as soon as the chicks are weaned, move them to their own cage. Do not give the nest box back to the parents for at least 6 months. You must rest the parents between each clutch, whether the eggs hatch or not.

Thank you for asking Lafeber,
