The food is coming out we plan to go to the vet tomorrow evening

Answer:

Hi,

Did you mean 2 months old? I don’t understand how a 2 year old bird would get a crop burn, since he would be too old for hand feeding. Either way, you will need to follow up with the Vet as soon as possible. All you can do is make sure he is eating, to compensate for the food that is coming back out. Crop burns can take a long time to heal because as with any burn, the skin is damaged and will continue to fall away until all the damaged skin is gone and new skin has replaced it. It can seem healed and come open again, so he will need to be checked again. It is also very tender, and can get burned again even if the food isn’t technically too hot.

Take care,

Brenda
