Cockatiel 17yr passed suddenly

Hello my Cockatiel of 17yrs passed away after being 2 days with vomit and hardly eating. I did take him to the hospital they just told me to take him home and give him baytril. His blood results did showed CPK534 uric acid 17.7. The vet said he had kidney failure but I am just extremely sad. I want to understand if there was anything else the hospital could have done to get him better. Thankyou

Answer:

Hi,

I’m very sorry for your loss. It sounds like you and the Vet did everything possible to help your bird, but unfortunately kidney failure is a common cause of death in older birds. You took very good care of him for him to live to be a senior bird.

Take care,

Brenda
