How to stop zebra finch laying eggs

The pair of zebra finch of my parrents keep laying eggs, like already 12. My parents dont want baby finches so they toon the eggs out. How can they stop her from lading eggs. First egg in feeding basket, now they lay it on the floor. The male is looking for material for making a nest, but there is nothing. And is setting on the eggs. We dont know how to stop her lading eggs and my mother is afraid the female will die for lading so many eggs

Answer:

Hi,

It sounds like you have already removed all nests & large seed dishes? Try also limiting their daylight to 8-10 hours. Move the cage to another spot in the room as much as once a week. Don’t offer any fresh foods for now. Have the cage in the busiest room in the house. Keep removing the eggs. Get some small toys to hang in the cage. Any changes can disrupt them and stop nesting behavior.
