Male doves

Our pet female dove flew away. Her mate was pining so I went to the bird store to purchase another. I don’t want any more eggs. The store owner said that two males (with no female in the cage) “will usually be ok” Well , the new male was being picked on so I have them each in their own cage and they coo all day. The wild doves have flown south. Are they just talking to each other or calling for a female who might be in the vicinity?. We rotate them daily into n enclosed cat patio on our porch so they can fly. At night we bring them in and they seem content. Any tips?

Doves will coo a lot, as it is their main vocalization. They may be competing or just communicating. Or calling for mates. Give them more time and they may get along better. Most birds do not get along instantly.
