Loss my one lovebird.

He is playing all time but now he is not playing,he only seating .

Answer:

Thanks for reaching out to Ask Lafeber.  I’m very sorry for the loss of your lovebird. Lovebirds form very strong bonds with their companions, and it is not uncommon for a surviving bird to show signs of grief or depression after losing a mate. You may notice decreased activity, less vocalization, changes in appetite, sleeping more than usual, or a general lack of interest in favorite toys and activities.

During this time, it’s important to provide extra attention and enrichment. Spend more time interacting with your lovebird, talking softly, offering favorite treats in moderation, and encouraging play and foraging activities. Try to maintain a consistent daily routine, as sudden changes can add stress.

Monitor your bird closely for any signs of illness, especially if appetite decreases or weight loss occurs. Sometimes grief-related behaviors can resemble illness, so a veterinary check-up is recommended if you have any concerns.

While some birds eventually adjust well on their own, others may benefit from the companionship of another bird. However, it is usually best to allow a period of adjustment before introducing a new companion and to do so gradually and carefully.

With patience, love, and extra attention, many lovebirds are able to adapt and regain their normal, happy behavior over time. ❤️
