I am very sorry to hear about your loss. Only a Vet exam could determine what happened. Anything else is a total guess. Baby birds are more susceptible to bacteria in the environment. They can also be more sensitive to temperatures. If you just got him, he may have been too stressed to eat, or he may have had a disease. There are also household hazards like anything with strong fumes – some heaters, non-stick cookware, cleaning products.
Again, so sorry you lost your baby bird.
