Beak problem

My meyers parrot is over 20 years old and his lower beak gets overgrown like a scissor beak needs frequent trimming his beak does not close properly.

Answer:

Hi Lind,

If this has always been the case, then it is most likely a physical issue with the beak alignment. This can be the result of improper handfeeding technique. Other than keeping it trimmed, there is nothing that can be done. But if this is something that started later in his life, it may be a nutritional deficiency or an issue with one of his internal organs. In this case, I would recommend a Vet check including a full blood panel to determine the cause.

Thank you for asking Lafeber,

Brenda
