If something is wrong with your bird, you should take it to an Avian Vet. It’s very dangerous to give over the counter medication to a pet bird. These are diluted forms of antibiotics, and while the bird may seem to get better, in most cases the bird will get very sick again or even die suddenly. Giving the wrong antibiotic can kill off beneficial bacteria and allow the good bacteria to take over, or it can cause the bacteria to multiply at a faster rate in order to fight the antibiotic. A weak antibiotic will have the same effect, killing some of the bacteria, but then the bacteria comes back stronger and harder to kill, and the bird usually succumbs very quickly.
