Was the Ekkies surgery done thru her vent by scope or both?

The surgery was done be entering into the coelomic cavity (the equivalent of her abdomen). Since we knew we were going to spay her this can only be done by entering the coelomic cavity and not through the cloaca. Had we have just been trying to get an egg out we would have attempted to go through the cloaca first.
