Female Eclectus with kidney disease

I’ve only had her a year now but she was not taken care very well previously to me. She’s plucked her whole front and part of her back. I recently found out she has kidney disease. The vet put her on another food but it’s super expensive and can only get with a Rx. We recently moved so I’m having a tough time getting into a vet to get the food. Would I be able to use any of these foods instead? She also has arthritis (she’s 20yo) so if anything could help her on that, it would be great. I look forward to a response!

Answer:

Hi,

We do not make a diet specifically for kidney support. There are different forms of kidney disease, and even with more details, we can’t guarantee that any of our diets would be suitable. Your Vet would need to make that call. You can compare the nutritional analysis of our diets to what is in the prescription diet. We do make a senior bird diet that would be the most likely diet to offer some support. I would recommend that you compare the nutrition and decide if you want to try it. Once you have found a new Vet, you should have new testing done so that the Vet can decide if they agree with the current diagnosis.
