Fisher Love Bird behavior

Hi, our little bird has toys, food, a nice caged but does not stop screaming. We try to have her outside her cage in the afternoon so she can flies and play but she only wants to be under a sofa and bites after taking her out of it. However, she continues screaming, she stops after covering part of her caged, but it does not last. She only stops after a gentle shower. ( i keep her in my hands while she takes some water) please, any idea, or recommendation so she can stop screaming. Is like she wants to be out of her cadge we love her but we need to find out a solution to have her happy. Thank you

Answer:

Hi,

Lovebirds are quite loud, and some individuals are louder than others. If this just started, it is probably hormonal behavior. Getting under the couch is her way of trying to nest. Unwanted behaviors in birds should be ignored, and you should reward the bird for good behavior. Pay more attention when she is quiet. Do not react to her screaming in any way – any attention is fine with her. Maybe try another location for her cage just to mix things up and give her something else to think about. I would recommend checking out our pages on behavior and training, to help you have a better understanding of why she is being so loud.
