Getting to know my Goffin

How do I know if my Goffin is a girl or a boy
And also the age of my Goffin

The best way to determine gender is having the bird DNA sexed – a Vet can take the blood and send the test off for you. Eye color can be an indication, but with Goffin’s they are often 10 years or older before the eye color change is obvious. Females will have a reddish brown eye and males have a dark brown eye, but all young Goffin’s have the dark brown eyes. As for age, once the bird is an adult, there is no way to know the age with any accuracy. A 1 year old, 5 year old, 10 year old would look no different from a 20, 30 or 40 year old. With the exception of the eyes – very red eyes would indicate a bird older than 10.
