How to tame Male Adult lovebird?

I have 1 male adult lovebird, his mate died recently and I think he’s lonley, I want to try to tame him but he is very scared, should I try to win him over with scheduled feedings or something?

Answer:

Hi,

It is difficult to tame an adult lovebird. It might be better to find it a companion – even another male would be fine. But you need to have them in separate cages until you can see if they seem to like each other. And then introduce them gradually. If you still prefer to try to work with him, you will need to be very patient. I’ll give you our links to our behavior and training pages to help you understand him and know how to work with him.
