Injured wild finch

I found an injured bird, it looks like the base of its tail or possibly back is injured. One leg is able to move some what but the toes are curled under and has very minimal movement. The other leg seems fine. It has been 2 days nowsince I found it and appears to have gotten better since. Just looking for any advice. No wildlife rescue near me.

Answer:

Hi,

The most I can do is give you a link to the National Wildlife group. Avian Flu is going through the wild bird population and it can have neurological symptoms that mimic an injury. There are poisons and other diseases that can cause what you are describing. While you may not find a center nearby, you should try to find a rehabber. All wild birds in the US are protected by Federal Law so it is illegal to keep one, even if you are just helping it. Call local animals shelters or Vets for a referral.
