Male canary

Why is my male canary sitting in his food bowl? He’s eating, drinking. Probably be in molt soon but seems otherwise normal. Eats canary pellets

Hi,

A single male will often nest, just like a single female. If he is otherwise normal, eating well and active when not in the bowl, then he is probably hormonal and wants to nest. You can replace the bowl with smaller dishes and see if he stops. If he is fluffed up and sleeping a lot, then you should take him to an Avian Vet.
