Male Zebra Finches

Will 2 male Zebra Finches need a nest, or is a perch ok

Answer:

Hi,

No, a nest is only used for breeding. Yes, in captivity, they will sleep in a nest because an owner didn’t know any better and gave them one. But a nest just triggers hormonal behavior and can cause fighting between the birds. Or in some cases, the two males may behave as a breeding pair. But since there is no hope for eggs, it’s better not to allow this behavior so that they will remain active and not just sit in a nest on a fruitless mission.
