My baby budgie died suddenly

I don’t know why but my 1.5 month old baby budgie died suddenly. He was alright just a 2 minutes ago his death. He was playing whole this day and don’t know what happened and when i saw him he was on ground of cage sleeping downwords. It’s seemed unusual to me and when i took him on my hand he was taking his last breath. I don’t know what happened to him suddenly in just 2 minutes. He was all good in his diet can you suggest what could happended to him?

Answer:

Hi Dhara,

I’m very sorry for your loss. The only way to know for sure would be for a Vet to do a necropsy. A sudden death is often caused by an airborne toxin. Birds are susceptible to almost any fume, even if it isn’t harmful to humans. Aside from obvious toxins like cleaners or pesticides, things like scented candles or even some incense can be toxic to a bird. The rule of thumb is anything with a fragrance should be kept away from pet birds because you never know what might affect them.

Thank you for asking Lafeber,

Brenda
