Hello my love bird Zia egg hatched it’s been two days since it happened I’m not sure what to do. ?

Answer:

Thanks for reaching out to Ask Lafeber. The best thing is to provide fresh food and clean water twice per day and then leave the parents alone as much as possible.  Birds need to have a lot of privacy while nesting and feeding babies.  They have strong instincts to nurture their babies, and under normal circumstances do a great job of caring for them as long as they are not in a stressful environment.  You can check on the babies occasionally but only do so when just one or neither of the parents are in the box with the babies.

Feeding fresh veggies is good as long as the parents are used to eating them.  However, do not leave soft food in their cage longer than a few hours.  Also, do not feed the parents spinach because it will bind the calcium. Also increase the amount of food daily because as the babies grow, their food consumption increases a lot.
For the most part, Lovebirds are very good parents as long as they are not disturbed.
