Nutrition once baby finch has grown up

Can finches naturally eat cooked chickpeas as I’m vegan and don’t want to kill animals to feed baby finch  I recently have a new chick my daughter told me to ask you

Answer:

Hi,

Finches are a wild bird species, and their natural diet is a variety of seeds, greens and insects. They do need a certain amount of protein in their diet. In captivity, they should be fed a nutritionally balanced diet like pellets or granules, fresh seeds such as in our foraging diets, greens & veggies. Some species only thrive if supplemented with insects, either live or dried. A home made diet is not recommended.

Thank you for asking Lafeber,
