Parrot 🦜

Why does my parrot not let me touch him whenever i raise my hand he gets angry and tries to bite me please tell me how to get him to let me touch him

Answer:

Hi,

Parrots are a prey species, so when your hand comes from above or behind him, he feels like a predator is trying to catch him. This is a hard wired instinct. You need to approach slowly, and never reach above him or grab at him. I’ll give you the links to our behavior and training pages to help you better understand how to work with him. Some parrots simply never enjoy being petted or touched and are happy on your hand or a playgym.
