Quaker

Hi whens the best time to take the baby’s if im going to hand raise them or should I put eggs in an incubator.

Answer:

Hi,

The best method is co-parenting, where you let the parents feed and you handle the chicks daily, once their eyes are open. Never handle one if the crop is full and put the chicks back if the parents get too upset. Only remove one chick at a time. I do not recommend artificial incubation at all. There are a lot of things that can go wrong and any parrot is hard to keep alive from day 1. Also, Quakers are not a rare bird by any means, and are even illegal in some locations. It doesn’t make sense to go to the expense and work to try to incubate the eggs and raise the chicks.

Thank you for asking Lafeber,
