Why my quaker parrots aren’t mating?

Why my quaker parrots aren’t mating?
Last year they mated and not laying eggs and this year they haven’t been mating !

Answer:

Hi,

When it comes to breeding, all you can do is provide what they need, and hope they breed for you. Quakers should be at least 3-5 years old for breeding. Younger birds will make mistakes or just not breed. The birds need to be bonded as a pair. They do not always like the mate we choose for them. A bonded pair will spend most of their time together, preening each other, feeding each other and eventually mating. Two birds might get along OK but not be compatible as breeders. You need to feed a nutritionally balanced diet like pellets – a seed diet is not a good diet for pet birds. You should also offer leafy greens, chopped veggies, some fruit, and while they are set up for breeding, an egg food. This can be a commercial dry egg food or cooked egg with the shell washed, crushed and cooked with the egg. They need a large nest box attached high in the cage. And they really need a fairly large cage. They also need a lot of privacy – you should only be around them to feed them. You can’t make any bird breed and again, some are not compatible and some simply are not good breeders. Give them what they need, along with plenty of privacy and hopefully they will breed for you.
