Female cockateil not allowing the male to enter the box

I have a pair of cockateil the female bites the male when ever he is near or seen inside the nest box. They have mated 3 to 4 times the female is very aggressive now whats the reason please do reply

Answer:

Hi Faisal,

This happens sometimes. It can even be reversed where the male does not allow the female near the box. Since there are no eggs yet, see if they will work things out. As long as there is no blood drawn, some spats are OK. If the fighting gets bad, you will have to split them up. Not all pairs will be good breeders. If they continue to fight, you may need to remove the box and not breed them or split them up and try different mates for each bird.

Thank you for asking Lafeber,

Brenda
