When i reach in my birds cage to change their water bowl my yellow peach faced love bird tries to bite me. It it usually a light bite that i would see as harmless and sometimes it is a little harder. Why do you think he or she does this?

This sounds like territorial behavior or if you have a pair, it might be the male protecting the female. Female lovebirds are generally much more aggressive than the male when they are defending their cage. If these birds are tame, then the bird might just want out. But my guess is this is territorial and the bird will likely become more aggressive as she gets older or if she wants to breed or lays eggs.
