Moving with a cockatiel

I have a cockatiel and am moving from L.A. to N.C. in late June. It seems the airlines have an “embargo” on birds in the cabin and several states may impose a 14-day quarantine upon entry.
Any ideas about how I can safely get my cockatiel to N.C.?
Thanks very much.

Answer:

Hi Andy,

I would recommend contacting the airlines directly. I can’t find any information on any pet embargoes as far as in-cabin. Some of the US airlines are not accepting checked pets right now. But they don’t allow checked pets during the summer anyway due to the heat. The only quarantines that I am aware of involve International travel. There are pet relocation services so you might look into one of those if your bird cannot travel with you.

Thank you for asking Lafeber,

Brenda
