Bird Bath

I recently purchased a bird bath for a future bird. It is supposed to go in the cage and I was wondering if I should keep it in there 24/7 or just let them use it supervised

Answer:

Hi Kristen,

If it is one of those little plastic tubs, most birds just end up turning it over and making a mess. LOL It’s been my experience that no matter how cool you think a bath is, your bird will end up using his water dish instead. Parrots also love being misted with a spray bottle. You can offer the bath – if it is very deep, only put a small amount of water into it. Parrots do not swim, so keep that in mind. I wouldn’t leave it in there all the time. Anything with water needs to be cleaned daily, which includes his water dish. And parrots either have a oil or powder that they distribute on their feathers for protection, so they don’t bathe daily.

Thank you for asking Lafeber,
