behavior issue?

Hello, I have a 9 year old quaker parrot that often will bite his foot when i go up to talk to him.. Im not sure if its a frustrated/annoyed behaviour, ?he only does it if someone goes close to his cage to talk to him , thank you

Answer:

Hi Robyn,

This is basically a territorial response. He is protective of his cage and would bite you if he could reach you, so out of frustration he bites his foot. I’ve seen this with many species. He might also grab his foot to regurgitate on it as a sign of affection for someone. But since he does this with anyone who gets too close, it sounds like territorial behavior.

Thank you for asking Lafeber,

Brenda
