My cockatiel chirps

I have 2 cockatiels , the younger one (18mths) chirps immediately after my older cockatiel (2 1/2 yrs old) chirps. Like he has to have the last word. Its driving me crazy .. & I cant imagine how it is affecting my older bird . Can you please advise? Cheers !

Answer:

Hi Melanie,

They are just contact calling to each other- this back and forth calling is very normal.  They vocalize to communicate, not to irritate, although it may seem to be the latter at times. I’m sure both birds are fine with it and are wondering why you are not. LOL

Thank you for asking Lafeber,

Brenda
