Walnut nutrition

I use walnuts in small bits as training reward do they have same benefits for the Amazon parrot as for humans

Answer:

Hi Frank,

Yes, they do have the same benefits. However, remember that a bird is much smaller than a human, so a small amount of any nuts or healthy treats are all he needs. Since you are using small bits, it is OK as long as his main diet is 80% of his daily intake and nuts and healthy treats are only 20% of his daily intake. This includes any fruits and veggies. Walnuts are fairly large, so probably up to a half a walnut is enough in a day, but maybe closer to only 1/4th of a walnut if this is a daily thing.
